Transitional Justice Belfast report highlights need to tackle outstanding conflict issues

27/02/2014

The findings of a Bridge of Hope transitional justice programme involving women from Falls and Shankill areas of Belfast has highlighted the need for progress on a range of social, economic as well as conflict related issues.

The executive summary of Bridge of Hope’s Transitional Justice Grasroots Programme, carried out in 2012-2013 contains 12 findings and recommendations.

Its main recommendation is for this work to continue developing as well reaching out to disadvantaged areas and sections of society most affected by conflict.

Dealing with the past calls for a holistic approach to the work of social reconstruction and to ensure all voices are heard, this programme works from the principle of engagement with those least able to influence the important transition from conflict to stability.
